The Renault Duster is gearing up for a comeback in the Indian market, with its second innings set to begin in mid-2025. After a hiatus of nearly three years, the Duster will be produced locally at Renault’s Chennai facility, alongside its Nissan counterpart. Spy shots confirm that test runs have already commenced, signaling that production could start soon.
Recently, the Renault Duster was showcased in South Africa, a right-hand-drive (RHD) market similar to India. A detailed video by AutoTraderSA offers an in-depth look at its exterior and interior features. The India-specific model is expected to share most of its design and features with this version. Spy images of test mules spotted near Renault’s Chennai plant support these speculations.
Dimensions and Design Features
The 2025 Renault Duster for India will measure over 4.3 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height. Its wheelbase is pegged at 2,657 mm, with a ground clearance of 217 mm. Notably, a 4WD badge is visible on the front fenders in the video, suggesting a 4WD variant could also be offered in India. This follows Renault’s brief stint with an AWD Duster variant in 2014.
Key design elements include square-shaped LED DRL headlamps, a bold front grille featuring the ‘RENAULT’ logo, and circular fog lamp housings. The SUV also sports plastic body cladding, roof rails, and alloy wheels. At the rear, it boasts wraparound LED tail lamps, a shark-fin antenna, and a roof spoiler. With a boot capacity of 472 liters, it promises practicality.

Interior and Features
While the South African Duster has a simpler feature set, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, all-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents, the India-spec version is expected to be more advanced. Likely additions include an electric sunroof and other premium features to cater to Indian buyers’ preferences.

Engine and Platform
Although Renault has not revealed engine options yet, the new Duster is expected to launch with petrol-only variants, offering both manual and automatic transmission choices. The outgoing Duster featured a monocoque platform with independent rear suspension and AWD, but the specifics of the upcoming model remain under wraps.
With more details anticipated in the coming months, excitement around the 2025 Renault Duster continues to grow. Stay tuned for further updates as the launch date approaches.
